What`s your perfect love island?

Getting to know the Balearics - Mallorca, Menorca & Ibiza

After moving to the Balearics in 2013, I have lived on all 3 islands and collaborated with boutique events agencies to create large wedding and event productions for international clients. But how to choose between these incredible islands, each with their own special personalities.

Why the Balearics?

Many people choose the Balearics for their destination wedding, family celebration or corporate trips because of the beautiful weather, gorgeous settings and delicious food. Our islands are a piece of paradise with pure natural beauty with some of the most stunning venues, quality suppliers and local products you will find in Europe. It is a perfect global meeting point between east and west with daily flights to most European cities and just a 40min connecting flight from Barcelona International airport. It really is a great choice of destination to bask in nature`s luxury and create memories that will last forever.

Mallorca

Mallorca boasts high quality, large venues and suppliers and authentic historical and rustic Mallorcan vibes. Many of the island`s Fincas (country houses) date back to Moorish times and have been kept in Mallorquin families for centuries, creating beautiful backdrops for all events. There are more Michelin star caterers than any other area of Spain and the quality of your suppliers is at its best in Mallorca. It`s a large island with a different landscape in each corner; from mountains to vineyards, beaches and historic rural towns. The island is a flagship destination for the hotel industry and has properties ranging from self catering apartments, villas, boutique hotels and large resorts which comfortably accommodate large numbers making it a great wedding & event location.

Perfect for all sized events and clients from all over the world looking to enjoy authentic Balearic culture, amazing food, wine and scenery.

Menorca

Sweet Menorca, the northern most island with a palpable British influence from decades gone by (Xoreguer Gin anyone?). It is a Unesco world heritage site which means unspoilt beauty with a real authentic Balearic vibe. The higher rainfall means there are grassy hills and fields with a lot of diary farming hence their famous local products of cheese, ice cream and shoes! This is a tiny island, it takes just 45 minutes to drive from one side to the other, there are vineyards, beaches and many private villas but planning an event here means getting started in advance to secure the best suppliers. The airport has less flight days per week than the other islands so logistics plays a big role in planning your celebration here.

Ibiza

Ibiza boasts incredible views and smaller breath-taking properties with their unmistakable white Ibicencan style. It's an island full of luxury and your budget will need to be almost double that of the other islands. Suppliers are booked up quickly and have a higher price tag for less quality than you can find on Mallorca, oh but those crystal turquoise Mediterranean waters are never far away. Venues have stricter restrictions for partying late (yes, even in a private villa) so dancing the night away under the stars isn`t realistic. Ibiza is perfect for clients with a handsome budget looking to treat their guests to an unforgettable, luxurious experience.

Formentera

The smallest and most untouched of all the islands. There are only a handful of venues, villas and suppliers for events but most Ibizan suppliers will make the 30 minute ferry trip over for an extra fee. There is no direct route to Formentera unless you live on a boat; ferry or private yacht is your only possible mode of transport to make the connection from Ibiza airport. To protect the island`s biosphere there is also a restriction on the amount of cars permitted so providing guest transportation is a must. Despite these elements, the island is something out of a dream and with enough planning time and small group numbers this is where fairy tales live.
